Rahul pays obeisance at Golden Temple
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who was on a “personal, spiritual visit” to Amritsar, visited the Golden Temple today. Wearing a white ‘kurta-pyjama’ and blue scarf on his head, Rahul, at around 9 pm, reached the Golden Temple under the three-tier security of the police and the task force of the SGPC.
After paying obeisance, he sat on the ‘chhabeel’ counter and performed ‘sewa’ (community service) of offering water-filled bowls to devotees and washed utensils for a few minutes. He left at around 10 pm for New Delhi.
The party leaders have asserted that Rahul was on a “spiritual” tour to Amritsar.
MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla said that Rahul had come as a “humble” devotee and performed ‘ardas’ for ‘sarbat da bhalla’ (welfare of all). “He came as a devotee, devoid of any political mileage,” he said.
