Karnal: The commerce association of Dyal Singh College, Karnal, organised a state-level competition SRIJAN-2020 on the college premises in which competitions of quiz, declamation and creative ad-writing were organised. Students from various colleges took part in the competitions. Prof BR Gulati, general manager of Dyal Singh College Trust Society, was the chief guest while Chander Shekhar, Principal, presided over the function. In quiz, Anuj, Samar and Rishab of Dyal Singh College got the first position while Rajat, Rahul and Mithlesh of Government PG College, Sector-14, Karnal, got the second position. Rahul, Mansi and Tashi from MLN College, Yamunanagar, secured the third position. In declamation, the first position was secured by Sonali from Dyal Singh College. Rachna of DN College, Kurukshetra and Komal of Dyal Singh College got the second, and Prerna Bajaj from Arya PG College, Panipat, got the third position.

Seminar on Int’l Women’s Day

Hisar: A seminar to commemorate International Women’s Day was organised at the Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, on the theme ‘I am generation equality: Realising women’s rights’. Priyanka Soni, Deputy Commissioner, Hisar, was the chief guest while Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice Chancellor, presided over the function. Soni, in her address, said, “Women are the creators of the universe and issues related to women can be addressed only by them. Both men and women should work for equality and gender rights.”

3-day training on financial issues

Karnal: A three-day training programme on ‘financial matters, fixation of pay, leave rules and conduct rules’ was organised by the Haryana Institute of Public Administration, Divisional Training Centre, Rohtak, at Government College Sector-14, Karnal. As many as 49 participants from various colleges participated in the programme. VP Asija, Principal, Divisional Training Centre, HIPA, Rohtak, introduced the training schedule by throwing light on general conditions of service, maintenance of service book, financial procedures, joining time and foreign service.

KU signs MoU with Mohali firm

Kurukshetra: Kurukshetra University signed an MoU with Code Quotient Pvt Ltd, Mohali, to start an industry-linked collaborative one-year intense software development programme under newly established centre for IT and automation. In the presence of Vice Chancellor Kailash Chandra Sharma, Dean, Academic Affairs, Prof Manjula Chaudary signed the MoU with Code Quotient. Sharma said the collaboration aimed at providing better opportunities for students and faculty to work more closely with industry partners. The focus was to carry out the research and development of emerging technologies like data science, full stack web development, mobile development, UX design, etc.

Special assembly on covid

Ambala: Darshan Academy, Ambala, organised a special morning assembly on the school campus regarding covid and its symptoms. The students gave presentations on the effects and symptoms of the virus. A video related to the topic was also shown to the whole school. They were also told about the precautionary measures to be taken. The students made posters on covid and underlined the importance of washing hands.
