Gurpreet Singh of Hari Nau village in Faridkot was shot dead by four unknown assailants around 7 pm today.

He was a close companion of Sukhraj Singh Niamiwala, son of Krishan Bhagwan, a victim of the police firing incident at Behbal Kalan in October 2015.

Niamiwala, who led a protracted protest, demanding justice in Behbal Kalan police firing incident, claimed Gurpreet was his key supporter. The police said they were probing the matter on priority. The body has been kept at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital.
