Vice-Prez cancels PAU visit due to smog
Vice-president Jagdeep Dhankhar’s visit to Punjab Agricultural University and Sat Paul Mittal School was cancelled due to unfavourable weather conditions. His plane could not land at the Halwara airport due to smog.
The plane hovered over the airport for an hour, but could not land due to smog. It was later diverted towards Amritsar for re-fuelling and later it headed towards Indore where the Vice-President was to attend some events.
He was to attend international conference on “Transforming Agrifood Systems in the Face of Climate Changes and Energy Transitions” at PAU and the prize distribution function at Sat Paul Mittal School.
Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and CM Bhagwant Singh Mann attended the conference at PAU. Kataria said he had come to attend the conference, but he also experienced the consequences of the climate change due to which Vice-President had to return and cancel his visit.
“CM Bhagwant Mann and I understood the situation and took the decision to arrive an evening before the event as it became obvious, we will not be able to make to the venue in the morning due to smog,” he said.
