VB nabs ex-patwari for taking Rs 65K bribe

The Vigilance Bureau (VB) today arrested former Patwari Gurnam Singh, his associates Buta Singh and Rana Singh, residents of Gill village, Ludhiana, for accepting a bribe of Rs 65,000.

The VB spokesperson said the case was registered on a complaint of Sarabjit Singh, a resident of Dulley village, Ludhiana.

The complainant had alleged that Buta and Rana had arranged his meeting with Gurnam, who had demanded Rs 1 lakh for mutation of his plot.

He informed that Gurnam had taken bribe in three instalments of Rs 15,000, Rs 35,000 and Rs 15,000 through his associates.

The spokesperson said the complainant had recorded phone calls with patwari and his associates and the allegations levelled against the trio were proved in inquiry.
