The Delhi Police’s special cell has arrested Jatinderpal Singh, alias Jassi, a UK-based NRI, from Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport, Amritsar, on Wednesday evening.
He was nabbed in connection with biggest ever drug bust case, 560 kg of cocaine and 40 kg of hydroponic marijuana, in the national capital on October 2.
A look out circular (LOC) was issued against Jassi after his role came to the fore during interrogation of four suspects who were apprehended with the contraband from a three-storey godown in South Delhi.
Those arrested earlier include Tushar Goyal, Himanshu Kumar, Aurangzeb Siddiqui and Bharat Kumar. This is the fifth arrest in the case.
According to information, Jassi was trying to flee back to the UK following the arrest of his accomplices. He has been living in the UK for the past 17 years and was a green card holder. He had recently arrived in India to ensure delivery of the contraband.
The drug cartel was reportedly being operated by a Dubai-based Indian citizen. The drug syndicate was operating out of Delhi and Mumbai and used to target concerts, rave parties and posh areas in Delhi and other metropolitan cities.
