Two gangsters arrested with snatched phones

The police claimed to have arrested two members of a gang of miscreants that has been involved in snatching valuables and drug peddling.

The suspects were identified as Yusuf, alias Kalia, and Ashu Verma, alias Walia, both from Malerkotla city. Three mobile phones snatched from different victims and a motorcycle used in the crime were recovered from their possession.

SSP Gagan Ajit Singh said a police team nabbed the suspects, who had been booked following a statement of Usman Ali of Kamal Cinema Road, Malerkotla. The complainant alleged that the suspects snatched his smartphone by threatening him with sharp weapons.

The accomplices of the miscreants were yet to be identified. Preliminary investigations revealed that both had a criminal record and were involved in drug peddling.
