Two couples held with heroin
Hours after a couple was arrested with 50 gm of heroin and drug money in the Hindumalkot area, the police arrested another couple and seized 61 gm of heroin from them.
A team led by Sub Inspector Girdhari Singh apprehended the two suspects, identified as Sonu Singh (22) of Kotha Pakki village and Balwinder Kaur (40) of Dhani Latkan in Abohar. The pair was travelling in a car with a Delhi registration number near Chak 6-A village when the heroin was seized.
The police said, during questioning, Sonu admitted to being addicted to heroin and revealed he had been in a live-in relationship with Balwinder Kaur for two years. He confessed to selling heroin to fund his addiction and their living expenses. Sonu further disclosed he had arranged heroin from two individuals, Vicky from Sherkhan village and Hira from Basti Alikhan in Ferozepur, five to six times over the past 18 months. He claimed to have purchased 80 gm of heroin from Vicky five days ago and had been selling it while keeping Balwinder Kaur with him.
Balwinder Kaur also confirmed she had been living with Sonu in a live-in relationship for two years.
The police have registered a case against both individuals under the NDPS Act.
Earlier, a police team had arrested another couple, Balwinder Singh (39) and his wife Kishan Kaur (36), from Chak 4-B village. The police seized 50 gm of heroin and Rs 10,270 in drug money from the couple when they were travelling on a motorcycle. During their interrogation, it was revealed Sonu and Balwinder Kaur were also involved in selling heroin, leading to the formation of a special police team to apprehend them.
The police are continuing their investigation into the drug network.
