To get first-hand feedback from residents, DGP Yadav opts for ‘night domination’ ops
To instill a sense of security among residents, Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav went out for ‘night domination’ operations in Ludhiana, Khanna, Fatehgarh Sahib and SAS Nagar and conducted surprise inspection at several nakas and police stations in the wee hours of Saturday.
The DGP assessed effectiveness of night domination operations, besides reviewing the working of special checkpoints and monitoring on-ground police work.
Yadav interacted with the residents to get first-hand feedback on their experience with the police.
“I am glad to learn that the public feels safer with our increased presence. Our goal is to ensure security of citizens and build trust through transparent and accountable policing,” he said. The DGP also engaged with the police officers and encouraged them to maintain high standard of professionalism. “These special vehicle checks will continue to ensure enhanced security and effective law enforcement,” he said.
Reiterating that curbing street crimes and eradicating drugs from the state were his top priorities, Yadav said the Commissioners of Police (CPs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) had been tasked to tackle such crimes professionally and ensure prompt registration of FIRs in such matters.
“The police are identifying crime hotspots. Patrolling teams are keeping tabs on anti-social elements,” he said.
“For the last few weeks, I have been actively visiting the police stations, interacting with the force and holding public meetings to strengthen the bond between the police and residents,” said the DGP.
Meanwhile, the DGP also assessed the effectiveness of crime combat apps, including VAHAN and PAIS (Punjab AI System).
Ludhiana Police Commissioner Kuldeep Singh Chahal briefed the DGP about the security arrangements made by them for the ongoing festive season.
