Amid reports of Sunil Jakhar resigning as Punjab BJP chief and some disillusioned former Congressmen keen to return to their parent party, PPCC chief Amrinder Raja Warring and CLP leader Partap Singh Bajwa said re-induction would vary from case to case.

“If the leader is worth it, the party can consider. Ground assessment will be done in case of re-induction,” they said. On Jakhar’s resignation, Warring said first, he back-stabbed the Congress by resigning ahead of the Assembly elections and now, he has back-stabbed BJP by resigning when elections are being held in Haryana. He exited the Congress when the party needed him the most and he is doing the same with the BJP. He runs away from struggle.”

Warring said Jakhar was riding on the legacy of his father late Balram Jakhar.

Bajwa said Jakhar’s resignation as Punjab BJP chief is nothing new as his political innings was over long back. “He had lost his relevance in the BJP when the party preferred Sikh face Ravneet Singh Bittu over him to further its political interests.”
