A bid to end life by suicide at the Golden Temple’s “amrit sarovar” by an unidentified elderly person was thwarted by vigilant sevadars, members of the Task Force and Sangat on Saturday.
Galiara police post SHO and investigating officer Jagbir Singh said the elderly man was a “Sabat Surat Sikh”. He was taken to the hospital immediately. His identity is yet to be ascertained.
The staff at the Jallianwala Bagh Civil hospital said he was kept under observation from 11 am to 5.30 pm. During questioning, he said he had attempted suicide earlier also. His address was later traced to Tarn Taran. The police took him to Tarn Taran to hand him over to his family.
