After the police registered a case against an unidentified farmer for burning paddy stubble at Harike Kalan village here on Thursday night, the Bharti Kisan Union (Sidhupur) lodged a protest for nearly eight hours by blocking the entry of Bariwala police station, demanding cancellation of the FIR.

The protesters did not allow any police personnel to enter or exit the police station.

Later, Jagjit Singh Dallewal, president of the union, too, joined the protesters. The protesters dispersed only after a DSP reportedly assured them of an amicable solution.
