The Punjab BJP broke into celebration today following the party’s hat-trick in Haryana in the Assembly elections. Punjab BJP leaders, who besides facing losses in the recent Lok Sabha elections are dealing with an ongoing crisis of leadership, termed the Haryana victory as the mandate for developmental politics.

The party leaders are hoping the victory will galvanise the party cadre in Punjab and influence the voters too in the panchayat elections as well as four byelections that will be held in a few months. The leaders said the drubbing of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Haryana was also a statement against its expansion plans.

Punjab BJP vice-president Kewal Dhillon attributed the victory to the developmental policies of the BJP government in Haryana. He emphasised that the win reflected the people’s trust in the party’s commitment to inclusive development, spearheaded by PM Modi’s welfare schemes.

“It is the victory of the policy of the BJP government to ensure development of everyone without discrimination. By entrusting the BJP with power for the third consecutive time, the people of Haryana have not only rejected the negative politics of the Congress but have also sent a strong message to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi that the Constitution is not in danger,” Dhillon said.
