Smuggler held with 31 kg drugs in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, April 7
The BSF today recovered 31-kg heroin worth Rs 156 crore and nabbed a Pakistani smuggler, whose identity was not disclosed, in two separate incidents of drug seizure in this sector along the India-Pakistan border.
In the first incident, sleuths of the BSF’s 14 battalion nabbed a Pakistani smuggler and recovered 30 packets of heroin, weighing 29.870 kg and worth Rs 150 crore in the international market, near border outpost MW Uthar in the Khemkaran area.
In another seizure, BSF troops belonging to 136 battalion recovered 1.16-kg heroin worth Rs 6 crore. DIG, BSF, Surinder Mehta said on observing suspicious movement along the fence, BSF troops challenged the smugglers, who managed to escape. Later, during the search operation, the consignment was recovered. — OC
