A direction has been issued to the SHO concerned to register an FIR against them under Section 174-A of the IPC for not appearing in the court despite issuance of proclamation. In another development, the court of Additional Sessions Judge Rashmi Sharma dismissed the anticipatory bail petition moved by Bains and others.
The FIR in the case was registered on the orders of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Harsimranjit Singh in July 2021 and the chargesheet was filed in December 2021. But none of the accused has been arrested till date. On November 16, 2020, the woman had moved a handwritten application to the Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, for the registration of an FIR against MLA Bains, Kamaljit Singh and others. She staged a sat-in for a long period outside the office of the Commissioner of Police, seeking the registration of an FIR.
