The the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Saturday announced the launch of the campaign from gurdwaras to mobilise opinion of the sangat over the matter.

Harjinder Singh Dhami, SGPC president, today said on the directions of the Akal Takht acting Jathedar, Harpreet Singh, the SGPC will install display boards giving information about the “bandi” Sikhs in all of its historical gurdwaras and educational institutions to make the sangat aware of the injustice being meted out to Sikhs by the government.

He said the Akal Takht Jathedar, during his address at Sri Kiratpur Sahib yesterday, had ordered the SGPC, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee and all other committees of gurdwaras to oppose the oppression of the “bandi” Sikhs.

These display boards will contain information about the years spent by these Sikhs in jail and their current status. The SGPC president held the Union and state governments responsible for the incarceration of these Sikh political prisoners.
