Security in place for Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan, says ADC Sidhu
The administration claimed to have made adequate arrangements for the safety, security and comfort of all sportspersons visiting Dr Zakir Hussan Stadium to participate in the four-day district-level Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan (Season 3) that commences on Saturday.
A meeting was organised to review the progress of preparations for the sports meet. ADC Sukhpreet Singh Sidhu presided over the meeting held at the District Administrative Complex.
The ADC said he was satisfied with the outcome of the review meeting. He said the safety and comfort of the athletes and students was the main topic of discussion at the meeting.
“As we had already explained details of the itinerary of the event, SSP Gagan Ajit Singh has deployed diligent teams supervised by Malerkotla DSP Kuldeep Singh to ensure the safety and security of participants and visitors,” said Sidhu. He said special teams of traffic personnel have been deployed at and near the venue.
District Education Officer Jaswinder Kaur Grewal said heads of various government and private schools were advised to persuade students to participate in the sports under the supervision of their respective teachers.
Executive Officer Apar Apaar Singh was advised to ensure that basic amenities such as safe drinking water and hygienic lavatories were available for all stakeholders, including participants, organisers, and visitors. All playgrounds and approach ways were being prepared according to standard guidelines of the sports department.
The Assistant Civil Surgeon, Dr Sajila Khan, said ambulances equipped with all the necessary gear had been arranged to be deployed along with competent medical officers and supporting healthcare staff.
