The Moga administration has taken stringent action against a farmer who burnt paddy stubble in his fields, violating the ban. A “red entry” has been made in his land records, besides the imposition of a fine of Rs 2,500.

DC Vishesh Sarangal said they received information about stubble burning at Said Jalalpur village (Dharmkot tehsil). On investigation, the allegations were found true and action was initiated.

The National Green Tribunal and Pollution Control Board have adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards stubble burning, he said.
