Realtors end protest at Muktsar
The property dealers, colonisers and document writers got an assurance from the district administration and local MLA Jagdeep Singh Kaka Brar that the collector rates of property would be reduced and thereafter they lifted their protest from Kotkapura Chowk.
During this period, they had even played flute before a buffalo outside the district administrative complex (DAC). Thereafter, they had once lodged a half-naked protest outside the DAC. Besides, they had once taken out a protest march at Doda village and Gidderbaha town.
Karamjit Karma, vice-president of the property dealers association, said, “A meeting was held today with the additional deputy commissioner, district revenue officer and local MLA, who assured us that the collector rates of property will be decreased soon. Then only we decided to end our protest. Even the local MLA had come to our protest site and made an announcement in this regard.”
The protesters were up in arms against the state government over three hikes in collector rates of property in the last about two years.
