Rana Gurjit Singh targets AAP, predicts Congress victory in Chabbewal
Former minister and Congress Minister of Legislative Assembly for Chabbewal Vidhan Sabha, Rana Gurjit Singh, today claimed a decisive victory for Congress in the upcoming Chabbewal by-election. Speaking to the media, he criticised the lack of agro-industries in the largely rural and agricultural constituency, despite its potential.
Rana Gurjit also targeted Dr Raj Kumar, the current Member of Parliament, for his failure to bring development to the area. “Despite being elected twice on a Congress ticket, Dr Raj has failed to deliver on basic infrastructure like proper roads and health facilities,” said Rana Gurjit. “Whether under the Congress government or the current Bhagwant Mann government, there has been no progress in Chabbewal.”
He added that with the by-election approaching, the state government and constituency leaders should have focused on significant development work to improve the area. Unfortunately, Rana Gurjit argued, Dr Raj Kumar had proven ineffective in every regard.
Rana Gurjit further claimed that the voters of Chabbewal were unhappy with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and were ready to bring about a major change by voting for Congress. He predicted a large victory for Congress, calling the Aam Aadmi Party-led state government a failure. “Bhagwant Mann has turned out to be a puppet chief minister, running the state remotely from Delhi,” he said. “His government has burdened Punjab with massive loans, and now there are plans to sell government land to run the administration. The people of Punjab feel cheated and regret giving the Aam Aadmi Party a chance.”
Rana Gurjit’s remarks were supported by Congress candidate Ranjit Kumar Kitti, former Sarpanch Sodhi Badyal, Pappu Ajram, and Baldev Singh Phuglana, among others, who were present at the event.
