Rahul should first apologise for Operation Bluestar and anti-Sikh riots: Harsimrat
Bathinda MP and Shiromani Akali Dal senior leader Harsimrat Badal on Tuesday said though it’s true that Sikhs, their institutions and their shrines are now constantly under attack and facing interference, Rahul Gandhi, his Congress party as well as the BJP are equally guilty of committing crimes against Sikhs.
“The least Rahul can do is to first apologise to the Sikhs for what his grandmother’s government and party did in 1984 before having the cheek to speak about Sikh issues,” she said.
Reacting to Rahul’s statement in the US that Sikhs were not feeling safe in India, Badal said Rahul’s own party has its hands full of the blood of thousands of innocent Sikhs in massacres in Delhi, Kanpur, etc, in 1984.
“Has he apologised for his grandmother Indira Gandhi’s act of rolling tanks and mortars into holiest Sikh shrine Shri Harmandar Sahib and for the demolition of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib?” Harsimrat asked in a post on X.
She said that in the absence of such an apology, does Rahul even have the moral right to speak on discrimination against “our brave and patriotic community”.
She said the BJP, too, is guilty of discrimination against the Sikhs and of trying to usurp control of Sikh shrines.
