The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The idea behind holding annual recruitment is to ensure that all vacancies in the state are filled, especially in wake of the current law and order situation in the state. Just two days back, a police station in Tarn Taran was attacked with an RPG.

Briefing mediapersons after the Cabinet meeting, Finance Minister Harpal Cheema said a schedule for this annual recruitment has been okayed by the Council of Ministers. The recruitment process will start in January each year, with written exams being conducted in May- June and physical tests to be conducted between September 15-30 each year. “The recruitment process will be completed in one year,” said Cheema.

The Cabinet has also given its approval to recover Rs 186 crore from anyone who is using water meant for irrigation to other uses. It has also been decided to extend the timeline given to crusher units in the state for submitting their security deposit.
