Punjab Police seize 6 kg heroin day after record drug haul
Punjab Police on Monday said it has arrested a drug peddler with six kg heroin following its probe into the 105-kg drug haul in the state.
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said the man has been identified as Lovepreet Singh, a resident of Chakoke village in Kapurthala district.
The police recovered six kg heroin from his car which was also impounded.
Lovepreet picked up the drug consignment from Hanumangarh in Rajasthan.
Taking to X, the DGP said that Lovepreet was to handover the consignment of heroin to another drug peddler Navjot Singh who was arrested on Saturday night in the 105 kg heroin recovery case.
“He was nabbed from Umra Nangal village in Baba Bakala tehsil here. The drugs were concealed from his car,” said DSP Balbir Singh, who is supervising the probe.
A fresh FIR has been registered against him with the State Special Operation Cell police station here.
