Pathankot: Greatest of All Times (GOAT) is an acronym used for exceptional artists, sportspersons and public figures. In the run-up to the 2019 Lok Sabha poll, voters had conferred the GOAT title on Sunny Deol for his acting abilities. Five years down the line, with the MP having done absolutely nothing for his constituency, his voters are angry and consequently have replaced GOAT with TOAT — Trickster of All Times! Their logic is that the actor played a trick on them by remaining absent for five years after taking oath in the Parliament.

Pathankot: Real estate agents were distraught when Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on his visit to Ranjit Sagar dam last week failed to announce the setting up of a Tourism Board to oversee development in the Musharba and Kalara islands in the 14 sq km lake. The agents were waiting for the CM’s green signal with bated breath — now they have their fingers crossed as they await his next trip, hoping that something tangible would take place then. As they say, hope sustains life.

‘Jaadugar’ of Muktsar MC

Muktsar: Municipal Council chief Krishan Kumar Shammi Tehria, who is with the Congress party, seems to have become a ‘jaadugar’ of Muktsar politics. Actually, nine councillors of his own party tried to remove him from his post twice, failing on both occasions. A loyalist of PCC chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, Shammi was in troubled waters when some councillors moved a no-confidence motion against him. However, they withdrew it the next day. In the 31-member MC, excluding the lone Independent, the Congress has 17 councillors, SAD 10, AAP 2 and BJP 1. As Shammi’s tenure has two more years left, only time will tell if his ‘jaadu’ would continues.
