New Delhi, June 14
A Delhi court today granted the transit remand of alleged gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to the Punjab Police in a case related to the killing of famous singer Sidhu Moosewala.
Two gangsters held
Mohali: The Mohali police and anti-gangster task force have arrested two members of the Bishnoi gang. The suspects were allegedly working for Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar.
The court passed the order as the Punjab Police produced Bishnoi before it after formally arresting him in the case. The court also issued a direction to the police to produce Bishnoi before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mansa, on Wednesday. The Punjab Police had said the killing of Moosewala seemed to be the result of an inter-gang rivalry and that the Bishnoi gang was involved in it. Moosewala was shot dead on May 29 by unidentified assailants in Mansa district.
Facing a trial for an offence committed under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, Bishnoi was lodged in Tihar Jail.
Earlier, the court had allowed the Punjab Police to formally arrest Bishnoi in connection with its probe into the case.
The Punjab Police counsel informed the Patiala House Court, Delhi, that Bishnoi was a key conspirator, while seeking the gangster’s transit remand saying that his custodial interrogation was necessary. He submitted that during the investigation, the confession statements of the arrested accused were recorded wherein it was clearly pointed out that Bishnoi had tasked the co-accused to carry out the “planned killing of Moosewala”.
Even the Delhi Police’s interrogation of Bishnoi indicated that he was the key conspirator, the Punjab Police said.
