Punjab Congress leaders have demanded action against Akali leader Virsa Singh Valtoha for allegedly threatening and causing mental agony to Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Talwandi Sabo. In a letter to the DGP, Punjab Police, Gurdaspur MP Sukhjinder Randhawa stated that the Akali leaders have not only hurt the religious feelings of the Sikh community but also questioned the highest religious institutions of the Sikhs.

Randhawa urged the DGP to personally take cognisance of the video released by Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, which allegedly shows Valtoha’s despicable act. Another Congress MP from Amritsar, GS Aujla, has appealed to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who is also the Home Minister, to take appropriate action against Valtoha for disrespecting the dignity of Takht Sahib and its position.

Aujla emphasised that action against Valtoha would deter others from targeting the dignity of Takht Jathedars in the future. He also stated that the personal attack on the Jathedar by the Shiromani Akali Dal leader is an insult to the entire Sikh community, which will not be forgiven.
