“I feel like I am caught between Delhi and Lahore”, Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann said at a conclave on Wednesday, jokingly remarking that both the BJP-ruled centre in Delhi as well as the  Pakistan Punjab chief minister was blaming the state for pollution affecting both the places.

“Pakistan Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif is saying our smog is reaching Lahore. Delhi says it’s reaching there as well. Seems our pollution is making a circle and going round,” Mann said, at a session of ‘Punjab Vision 2047’ conclave in Panjab University.

His statement evoked much laughter.

Speaking during the second day of two-day conclave, Mann underlined the need for chalking out a sustainable mechanism for management of the stubble burning. The Central government and the state governments should prepare a viable action plan to deal with it rather than indulging in “blame game”, he added. The event was organised by Dr Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Rajya Sabha MP and president of World Punjabi Organisation, in association with the Punjab Development Commission and Panjab University.
