Punjab can play vital role in enhancing business, academic ties: Mexican envoy

Mexico’s Ambassador to India Federico Salas Lotfe, who was in Mandi Gobindgarh today, highlighted the India-Mexico relations and said Punjab could play a vital role in boosting business and academic ties.
He said, “Punjab is known for adopting best agricultural practices. High potential of industrial growth in the state can prove beneficial for both the countries.”
Salas honoured Dr Zora Singh, Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University (DBU), Mandi Gobindgarh, with a lifetime achievement award for contribution in the field of education and international academia during an interactive session organised jointly by the DBU and the Movastacon Foundation.
He said this understanding would further grow with joint effort of friendly institutions.
Dr Zora said they had been very particular about international outreach programmes in Saint Vincent, Mexico, the UAE and the US.
He said, “Last year, the DBU signed a memorandum of understanding with Mexico in the field of Latin studies, business connectivity, academic exchanges and policy recommendations.” The DBU announced a scholarship programme for 100 meritorious Mexican students and presented the draft to Salas.
Mohit Srivastava, founder president, Movastacon Foundation and Praveen Singh, vice-chairman, Punjab Medium Industry Development Board, among others were also present on the occasion.
