Punjab bypoll: Farmers corner Manpreet Badal, he escapes in his SUV with unanswered questions
Former Punjab Finance Minister and BJP candidate for Gidderbaha Assembly bypoll, Manpreet Singh Badal, today ended midway his conversation with a farmer leader and left the venue in his car without answering some of his queries.
Manpreet had gone to the village in the morning for his election campaign where an activist of Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan), Bittu Mallan, stopped him and asked a few questions.
Though Manpreet started answering Mallan’s queries and listed some pro-farmer works done by him during his tenure as an MLA from Gidderbaha, he rushed towards his SUV to exit when confronted with questions on farmer Shubhkaran who had died during the farm protest and the unlisted paddy lying in grain markets.
For the past few days, farmers have been lodging protests against BJP leaders.
They had recently tried to gherao Manpreet's wife Vinu Badal too. They have also been lodging a protest outside Manpreet’s office in Gidderbaha. They recently lodged a protest near the meeting venue of BJP's state in-charge and former CM of Gujarat Vijay Rupani in Gidderbaha.
