PSPCL union calls off strike after meeting with Punjab Power Minister

The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) union has called off its strike after a meeting with Power Minister Harbhajan Singh in the evening. The union claimed that most of their demands have been met, leading to the successful conclusion of the strike.

However, the strike had a significant impact on power outage-related complaints in Punjab. Today, PSPCL received 16,319 complaints, with 12,504 still pending as of 8.30 pm. Over 14,000 workers below the SDO level continued their strike, resulting in a backlog of complaints. Notably, 3,000 complaints have been in the queue for more than 24 hours, and 9,672 remain unassigned.

In the Mohali circle alone, 6,243 complaints were registered today, with 6,143 still pending. The number of unassigned complaints stands at 5,970, a significant increase from yesterday’s less than 500 complaints.

The minutes of the meeting between the union and the power minister are expected to be released today, providing further details on the agreements reached.
