The relay fast of computer teachers, who have been protesting outside the Sangrur District Administrative Complex, entered 37th day today.

The protesting computer teachers have been demanding shifting of their department from the Punjab Information and Communication Technology Education Society (PICTES) to the Education Department. Their other demands include implementation of the 6th Pay Commission, besides a government job for family members of 100 deceased computer teachers.

Nardeep Sharma, district president, Computer Adhyapak Union, said they had planned to burn a 91-inch effigy of the state government on October 10 as none of the 91 MLAs of the ruling party had visited them so far.

Sharma said there was no difference between the AAP government and the parties which remained in power earlier.

He said they would not backtrack from their genuine demands and would compel the state government to accept them.

Sharma said after completion of the panchayat poll, they would convert their relay fast into a fast-unto-death as a large number of computer teachers were on election duty.
