Project Contact launched in Fazilka district
The Fazilka police have launched “Project Contact” to intensify its campaign against drugs, particularly in border villages. The police also launched another campaign called Mission Nishchay in June 2024.
Fazilka Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Varinder Singh Brar said that the main objective of the project was to establish a connection between the police and public. It aimed to instil trust in people so that they can contact the police without any fear and expose the drug traffickers.
SSP said that under Project Contact meetings would be held with the members of Village Defense Committees (VDCs) under the supervision of different gazetted officers and SHOs. He said awareness was being created among the villagers against ill effects of drugs.
Currently, there are 32 meetings which are being organised on the onset of the project to strengthen the bond with locals.
