Prez, VP wish people on eve of Guru Nanak's birth anniversary
President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday led the country in sending greetings on the eve of the 555th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak.
In a message, the President said, “On the occasion of Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, I extend my warm greetings and best wishes to all Indians living in India and abroad, especially our Sikh brothers and sisters.
“Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Japji Sahib emphasises love, faith, truth and sacrifice. His teachings guide us towards moral ethics. He established the practice of community kitchen, known as langar, and advocated brotherhood. He inspired all to follow the path of spirituality to attain knowledge and renunciation while fulfilling their social responsibilities. He encouraged people to practise honesty and hard work and share their earnings with the needy."
The President asked everyone to adopt the teachings of Guru Nanak in daily lives and promote unity and equality in society.
VP Jagdeep Dhankhar said Guru Nanak's life stands as a beacon of enlightenment, guiding people towards a path of spiritual fulfilment, equality, compassion and service to humanity.
"On this auspicious occasion let us reaffirm our commitment to Guru Nanak Dev Ji's timeless wisdom and rededicate ourselves to the principles of truth, harmony and unity of all beings."
