With just a few days left for the byelection, a poster war has started in Gidderbaha.

AAP candidate Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon had recently put up posters in the constituency, seeking a two-and-a-half-year tenure from the public. The posters featured photos of BJP candidate Manpreet Singh Badal and PCC chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, who have served as Gidderbaha MLAs for 16 years and 12 years, respectively.

Now, some posters of Dimpy Dhillon with SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal have appeared in the segment, titled Shiromani Akali Dal. The posters carry a message in Punjabi, saying “Jo ho nahi sakya bharavan warge pariwar da, oh ki mull pauga Gidderbaha de satkar da” (the man who couldn’t stand with a family, which treated him like brother, how could he stand for Gidderbaha).

Further, some posters featuring photo of a farmer and raising questions on drug menace, petrol and diesel price, state’s increasing debt, law and order, gangsters, etc, have also appeared in the segment.

Dimpy alleged that the posters were “mischief” on the part his “rival”.

Meanwhile, the Gidderbaha Returning Officer-cum-SDM today issued two notices to Congress candidate Amrita Warring asking her to reply within 24 hours. The Returning Officer said one notice was issued for allegedly putting up posters of Dimpy Dhillon with SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, and the other was related to a poster calling for a lesson to those indulging in “highhandedness” during the panchayat elections, featuring photos of both the CM and the AAP candidate, crossed out with ink.

In another development, the Executive Officer of the Gidderbaha Municipal Council has submitted his report on an alleged incident in which Raja Warring promised to give Rs 50,000 to some voters at his public meeting recently.
