Post-poll violence in Abohar
Around 25 armed miscreants stormed into a house of a woman at Ajit Nagar on Thursday night, who had contested election for the post of sarpanch
in October.
Victim Jaswinder Kaur said she had been in the fray for the post of sarpanch and lost by 45 votes. Since then, her rivals and their henchmen have been allededly threatening her. She said around 25 miscreants carrying sharp-edge weapons stormed into her house yesterday night through neighbours’ terrace and pelted bricks.
Jaswinder added that her family members had to hide to save their lives. Later, the miscreants broke the SUV and set three bikes on fire.
Panch Sukhwinder said the attack took place due to election rivalry and the police should deal sternly with such anti-social elements.
SSP Varinder Singh Brar said a case had been registered under Sections 331(6), 324 (4), 351 (2), 191 and 190 (B) of the BNS. Suspects named in the FIR include Vicky, Dhattu, Gogi, Bhamma Singh, Akash Sukha, Kaku, Jashan Singh, Sunil, Johnny and Kuldeep. Nobody would be spared for indulging in such incidents, said the SSP.
