It has been more than two months since the Lok Sabha results were announced on June 4, but none of the candidates of all four main political parties — AAP, Congress, SAD and BJP — who unsuccessfully contested General Election from Faridkot, has made even a single visit to the Gidderbaha Assembly segment so far. Gidderbaha is scheduled to go for byelections shortly.
It falls in Faridkot parliamentary constituency and Sarabjeet Singh Khalsa is the first-time MP from here. After becoming MP, Sarabjeet has visited the constituency twice or thrice. However, area residents are still waiting for his rival candidates — AAP’s Karamjit Anmol, Congress’ Amarjit Kaur Sahoke, SAD’s Rajwinder Singh Dharamkot and BJP’s Hans Raj Hans.
On this, AAP’s Muktsar district president Jashan Brar Lakhewali said: “I can’t make a comment in this regard as I never had a telephonic conversation with Karamjit Anmol after the election.”
Further, SAD’s Muktsar district president Preetinder Singh Sammewali said: “Rajwinder wanted to hold a thanksgiving tour and he even approached me for this purpose. However, the farmers during this period were busy in sowing paddy.”
Similarly, Congress’ Muktsar district president Shubhdeep Singh Bittu said: “I think our party candidate Amarjit Kaur has gone abroad. I will say all those who contest the election should visit their constituencies and keep meeting people.”
BJP’s Muktsar district president Satish Asija said, “Hans ji was busy in his family affairs and had also gone abroad. He will come here soon.”
Some members of these political parties said they would have to answer the public during the canvassing of upcoming Assembly bypoll.
