The police claimed to have cracked the incident of murder of a youth, Rajinder Singh and causing injury to his brother, Ravi and another youth, Sameer, during the Balaji Temple fair on October 17 in Deengarh village.

Hanumangarh Superintendent of Police Arshad Ali said Suraj (19), Gurdit Singh (22) and Harpreet Singh Happy (21), residents of Naiwala village, have been arrested and two minor boys have been detained. He said the Abohar-based suspects, against whom a case was registered initially, were found not guilty in the investigation.

The police said on the report of Ram Chander Meghwal (58) of Haripura village, a case was registered on October 17 against Sandeep Shakya of Khubban village in Abohar and his 10 accomplices. Ram Chander had alleged that Shakya had earlier said something wrong about a girl. The victims had scolded him; however, people intervened and resolved the issue. Due to this rivalry, Shakya allegedly called his friends to Deengarh and attacked Rajinder, Ravi and Sameer at about 2 am on October 17, when the latter were returning home from the fair.

The incident took place at around 2 am on the main road away from the fair venue, when the deceased, Rajinder Singh, was returning to Haripura village along with his brother Ravi, Sameer and other youths. The miscreants stopped them on the way and attacked. Rajinder Singh, who was injured in the incident, died later; two others were being treated.

The police said Rajinder and his associates had an argument with the accused over small matters in the fair. After this, the suspects left the fair venue and Rajinder and his friends stayed there and left the fair to go back at around 2 am. At a deserted place on the road outside the village, some miscreants attacked Rajinder and his friends with sharp weapons.
