The Amritsar rural police and the Border Security Force (BSF) have confiscated a total of 13 kg of heroin and a revolver in separate incidents in the past 24 hours.

The police also arrested five persons — Malkeet Singh, Baljinder Singh, Gurbhej Singh, Franko Masih and Arsh Masih — in this connection.

Amritsar rural police chief Charanjit Singh said Gurbhej Singh was arrested with 3-kg heroin following specific intelligence inputs that he was involved in drug trafficking. Gurbhej, who had recently received a drug consignment, was going to deliver it to his unknown accomplice. A police patrolling team intercepted him on the Chak Allah Baksh-Rania border village road. He was carrying black polythene containing the contraband.
