The city-1 police station has registered a case on the basis of the statement of the wife of a youth who ended his life yesterday.

In the complaint registered under Section 108, 3(5) of the BNS, Jyoti, the wife of Mohit (the deceased), said before her love marriage three months ago, Mohit was in a relationship with Anjali, a resident of Faridkot. Jyoti said the latter and her father, Tilak Raj, had been harassing Mohit. She said Mohit was depressed due to it, and he died by suicide when she was away to her parents’ house in Jaitu.

Mohit hung himself in a rented apartment on the first floor of a house in Nanak Nagar on Sunday. Before taking the extreme action, he posted a picture of himself with his wife on WhatsApp and apologised to her on the post. The deceased worked at a printing press here.
