Police arrest youth with 50 gm heroin
The police here claimed to have arrested a man with 50 gm of heroin. Police officials said during a patrol, the Mehlan police post in-charge, Sub-Inspector (SI) Gurmail Singh, and his team seized 50 gm of heroin from Paramjit Singh, a Sangrur resident, near Mardkhera village.
The police said when the patrol team reached near Mardkhera village, it saw a youth who was carrying a plastic container in his hands. They said on seeing the police team, the youth attempted to flee; however, the team managed to stop him, searched the plastic envelope, and seized 50 gm of heroin from it.
Police officials said the suspect, Paramjit Singh, was arrested. They added that a case has been registered against him under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 at the Chhajli police station.
