An NRI youth was allegedly murdered with sharp-edged weapons by five armed men in Phillaur on Monday night.

Manav, 23, a resident of Bharsinghpura in Phillaur, had returned from the United Arab Emirates seven months back.

Phillaur SHO Neeraj Kumar said the accused were identified as Jasbir Kumar, Pawan, Hardip, Amit and Prince, all residents of Phillaur.

Personal enmity is said to be the cause of the murder, he said.

The police have registered a case under Sections 302 and 120-B of the IPC against the accused and handed over the body to his family after the post-mortem.
