Farmer leader spearheading the “Dilli Chalo” march Sarwan Singh Pandher today appealed to all farmer leaders to sink differences and reunite to ensure victory of the farmers. Meanwhile, farmers have suspended their Delhi march from Shambhu. They will take a call on the issue in the coming days.

Pandher said the upcoming protest by farmers on December 18 to stop trains “is a step in the right direction as the Centre has been ignoring legitimate demands of the farmers”.

He appealed to all farmer outfits and released a letter he has written to the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) to join hands with the farmers protesting at Punjab-Haryana border points over their demands, including a legal guarantee on MSP for crops.

“We have no ego and that’s why we have appealed to all like-minded farmer unions as they are part of the extended family of farmers. Even tomorrow, the tractor march in Ambala will highlight the agitation and its demands,” he said.

His statement comes a day after SKM leader Rakesh Tikait appealed to farmer unions to unite against the Centre till their demands were accepted.

Farmers under the banner of Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha are spearheading the “Dilli Chalo” march and have been camping at Shambhu and Khanauri since February 13 after their march to Delhi was stopped by security forces.

Pandher said he was in regular touch with Dallewal at Khanauri and would meet him. “He is observing an indefinite fast for the farrmers’ cause,” he said.

In the evening, Pandher visited Dallewal from where he released a video message urging farmers and their family members to come out on December 18 and stop trains in their villages and at nearest railway stations for three hours. “This would ensure that the voice of farmers reaches the Prime Minister,” he said.

Meanwhile, the protesting farmers suspended their Delhi march for the day after 17 of them were injured in teargas shelling and use of water cannons by the Haryana Police and paramilitary forces at Shambhu on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa also met Dallewal late in the afternoon. In a post on ‘X’, Bajwa said: “Visited S Jagjit Singh Dallewal Ji to inquire about his health... His resolve symbolises the strength of our farming community and their rightful fight for justice... I assured him that @INCIndia stands firmly with our farmers.”
