Outrage after 23 cows die in Phagwara cowshed
The death of nearly 23 cows in a cowshed near Mehli Gate in Phagwara sparked widespread grief and outrage across the community.
Hindu leaders including Raman Nehra, Avinash Rai Khanna, Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal and Parminder Mehta condemned the
incident, calling it deeply unfortunate.
In separate statements, they expressed their solidarity with the local community and the management of the cowshed, highlighting the cultural and spiritual
significance of cows in Sanatan Dharma.
The leaders urged police and administrative authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the deaths and ensure justice. “If there is any foul play or negligence involved, those responsible must face strict punishment to prevent such incidents from occurring again,” they said.
The leaders also praised local residents for maintaining peace and unity during this difficult time, as well as shopkeepers who voluntarily closed their establishments in respect for the deceased animals.
Offering prayers for the dead cows, they reiterated the importance of protecting the sanctity and welfare of cows in society. The incident left the community in shock, with many calling for greater accountability.
