Days after it was reported that nobody from Behbal Kalan village had filed nomination papers due to the alleged threat from “A” category gangster Harsimrandeep Singh, alias Simma Behbal, several villagers today met the Faridkot SSP and accused Jaito AAP MLA Amolak Singh of not letting the unanimous aspirant to file his papers.

Never spoke to Aspirant

I have never spoken to Simma or his family members. Let the police conduct an inquiry and bring out the truth. Amolak Singh, jaito AAP MLA

The villagers claimed that they had decided to unanimously elect Gurmukh Singh, father of Simma for the post of sarpanch on September 28, without any threat from the gangster.

On September 29, cops raided Simma’s house and slapped a case on his father and seven others, claimed the villagers. As the police nabbed their two supporters, Simma and his father along with several other workers went into hiding, said the residents.

Demanding an inquiry, Jasbir Singh, brother of Gurmukh, alleged that the Jaito MLA had sought Rs 25 lakh from Simma’s family to get Gurmukh elected unanimously and non-fulfillment of the demand led to the police action.

Denying the allegations, MLA Amolak said, “I have never spoken to Simma or his family members. Let the police conduct an inquiry and bring out the truth.”
