Nation heading towards dictatorship, says Dallewal; fast unto death enters Day 13
Expressing concern over the grave situation at the Shambhu border, Jagjit Singh Dallewal, convener, Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-political), today said the country was heading towards dictatorship.
Dallewal, whose indefinite fast entered 13th day, said mistreatment of mediapersons by the Haryana Government at the Shambhu border was highly condemnable.
He said even media, which is considered fourth pillar of democracy, had not been spared by the Haryana Government.
A medical team deputed to monitor health of Dallewal said the farm leader was constantly losing weight and his blood pressure was 155/90.
Due to his worsening health condition, Dallewal addressed the media persons at the Khanauri border for a few minutes.
Abhimanyu Kohar, a farm leader, said tear gas shells fired by Haryana cops on 101 farmers heading towards Delhi from the Shambhu border on foot was a black spot on democracy.
He added that this had also exposed the real face of the Haryana Government as it earlier said the farmers could go to Delhi on foot but not on tractor-trailers.
“When the farmers are going to Delhi on foot, why is the Haryana Police firing tear gas shells on them?” said Kohar, adding that if something untoward occurs with Dallewal, the Prime Minister and Home Minister would be held liable.
On December 9, the ‘Kisan andolan’ would complete 300 days and the farmers from across the country would observe 12-hour hunger strike in front of residences of the MPs in support of Dallewal’s indefinite fast.
Another farm leader Inderjit Singh Kot Budha criticised the Haryana Police for resorting to fire tear gas shells on the peaceful farmers at Shambhu border today.
He said the Centre should accept and implement the demands of the farmers, including legal guarantee of MSP on all crops.
