Narco-arms cartel busted in Amritsar; 22-year-old woman among three held
The city police today busted a major drug and weapon smuggling racket and confiscated a huge quantity of contraband and four pistols from the possession of three suspects.
A 22-year-old woman and two other persons were arrested by the police. The seizure included 8.27 kg heroin, 6 kg opium and 13.1 kg chemical used to enhance the quantity of contraband, besides four sophisticated pistols along with 17 live cartridges.
Those arrested were identified as Aditya Partap Singh (23), alias Kaka, of Bhalla Colony, Chheharta; Shambhu Kabir (35) of Prem Nagar, Kot Khalsa; and Muskan (22), daughter of the racket kingpin Sunny, who was still absconding.
Sunny has 26 cases registered against him under the NDPS Act and the Arms Act. He was released on bail around three months ago. Shambhu Kabir was also wanted by the police in a murder case.
Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said Aditya was arrested by the police with two sophisticated pistols on November 6. During his interrogation, the police arrested Shambhu Kabir from Guru Ki Wadali road in Kot Khalsa. The police seized 275 gm heroin, 11.1 kg chemical and a .32 bore pistol. He faces five criminal cases including murder etc.
During further probe, the police seized 8 kg contraband, 2 kg chemical, 6 kg opium and a Glock pistol on the disclosure of Aditya.
Bhullar said more seizures were likely following the arrest of Aditya’s brother and kingpin Sunny. He said Sunny used his family members for trafficking drugs.
