Chotta Mani was arrested along with his accomplice Jatinder Singh of Gobindpura Mohalla in Mani Majra. Cops also seized two .32 caliber pistols along with 12 cartridges from their possession.

The duo was actively working for Bishnoi and gangster Goldy Brar and have several cases of attempt to murder, extortion, robbery and the Arms Act registered against them in Chandigarh and Haryana.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were tasked to carry out targeted killings of their rivals on the directions of their foreign-based handlers.

In 2022, Chotta Mani along with Sachin Thapan, Deepak Mundi and Joginder Joga were tasked by their foreign-based handlers to murder Moosewala on directions of Ayodhya-based politician Vikas Singh, who was later arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in November 2023.

Bishnoi wanted to settle Chotta Mani abroad and sent him to Dubai thrice to facilitate his safe entry to Europe but failed. As a result, he had to return back to India.

A case has been registered under Section 25 of the Arms Act against the accused.
