Meet Hayer meets Gadkari over road projects in Sangrur
New Delhi, July 27
Aam Aadmi Party’s Member of Parliament from Sangrur Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in Delhi today and discussed various issues related to the national highways passing through his constituency. Gadkari reportedly assured him of looking into his demands.
Hayer asked for the construction of a flyover on the National Highway-703 at the Cheema-Jodhpur crossing. For the residents of both Cheema and Jodhpur villages, it was troublesome to cross the road near the bus stand, he added.
Similarly there was an urgent need for the construction of a flyover on the Barnala-Sangrur highway (NH-64) near Badbar, Hayer said. “From that road point, a separate road goes towards Longowal-Sunam, due to which this stretch often witnesses traffic snarls. That is why there is a need for the construction of a flyover on priority basis,” he said.
The MP also asked for the widening of two roads connected to the city bypass going towards Barnala-Moga, Sangrur and Bathinda. He said one road was 7.5-km-long and it stretched from Barnala Jail to Handiaya Chowk crossing through ITI Chowk in Barnala city. The second 3.5-km-long road extended from ITI Chowk to Handiaya. Widening of these two roads would ensure smooth flow of traffic, he added.
