Medical profession, politics alike: Dr Ishank on poll trail
On a career trajectory similar to his father, AAP Chabbewal candidate Dr Ishank, who treated patients for years and managed campaign of Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal during the Lok Sabha poll, said there’s hardly any difference between the two professions.
After being boosted by AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal and CM Bhagwant Mann in a public rally on Saturday, greenhorn Dr Ishank canvasses across myriad constituencies in a whirlwind tour.
He said, “The people say doctori (medical profession) and politics are different, but I don’t think so. When you study to become a doctor, you also learn about history of the people. You understand the patient’s problems and listen to the issues faced by them. Politics is exactly the same. You have to listen to the problems faced by the masses and give them a solution.”
The profession reflects on his campaign – a medical college in Hoshiarpur, a hospital in Chabbewal are among his key priorities.
Straight after the AAP rally on Saturday, he set to meet electorate and had a day-long programmes at Bajrawar, Samoli, Bilaspur, Phuglana and Mukhliana on Sunday.
With his day starting at 6 am and ending at 9 pm, Dr Ishank said, “The AAP government has done enormous work in two and a half years. Dr Chabbewal enjoys an overwhelming support due to development works launched by him.”
“For the first two-three days, it was quite challenging. Then I got habitual,” he said.
“ITI polytechnic, a medical college at Hoshiarpur and a hospital at Chabbewal are my top priorities. I am focusing on taking my father’s strategy forward,” he said.
