To pay tributes to police martyrs, the Malerkotla police led by SSP Gagan Ajit Singh observed police commemoration at the district police office on Monday.

Senior police officers paid floral tributes to the martyrs of the police and paramilitary forces who laid down their lives in the line of duty. SSP Gagan Ajit Singh, Additional Civil Judge (Senior Division) Roopa Dhaliwal, and SP (H) Swaranjit Kaur spoke on the occasion. They said the day served as a reminder to everyone about the jawaans of ITBP and CRPF led by ASI Karam Singh who sacrificed their lives in the ambush attack of Chinese forces during patrolling at hot springs in Ladakh on October 21, 1959.

SSP Gagan Ajit Singh said the youngest district of the state carried a legacy of its 10 martyrs who walked an extra mile to thwart the nefarious designs of the antisocial elements to destabilise the law and order and disrupt the hard-earned peace and harmony.

Avtar Singh of Dhaler village, who is posted at a Sanjh Kendra of the district, appreciated the gesture shown by the administration as they invited the aggrieved families of the regions and felicitated them.

Avtar Singh said, “Though the pain and agony of losing our father in a terror act when he was paying obeisance at village gurdwara is unforgettable, it gets diluted on this day when top-ranking government personnel share intimate moments with us.”
